12/3/09 Chapter 3:
Some characters from this book include Mr. Owen, who is the mysterious man who invited all of the people to the island. He is an unknown man to all of the characters, and many think that he is a mad homicidal lunatic.
Another character is Mr. Blore, who went by the name Mr. Davis before. He is a detective sent to the island by Mr. Owen to look over the other guests.
A third character is Mr. Wargrave who is a retired judge. After the voice they heard, he lead all of the questioning of the people there.
A fourth character is Emily Brent, who is a 65 year old woman who has old school traditions. She distances herself from the other people on the island because she does not like some of their ways and would rather live her own traditional life.
A fifth and final character is Mr. Roger who is the house servant along with his wife. He was invited to the island by Mr. Owen before all of the other guests arrived. Like all of the other guests, he has no idea who Mr. Owen is and he was just invited to the island by letter like all of the other guests. Good descriptions of the five characters chosen. Check the directions once again.

12/2/09 Chapter 2:
Examples of suspense in chapter two are when Fred Narracott said,"Queer business when you came to think of it - the whole thing was queer - very queer..." Another example of suspense is when Dr. Armstrong said,"Funny place to met him...here - out of the world." A third example of suspense was when Anthony Marston said,"And after--?" A fourth and final example of suspense was when Mr. Blore said,"Good thing, perhaps, that one can't foresee the future...." All of these quotes are examples of suspense because the writer left the readers mind without filling in all the details, letting the mind wonder and think what may be happening next. By using this suspense tactic, the reader wants to read more of the book because they are always left thinking about what may happen next. William-
True. When you write this paragraph, be careful not to say 'another example, a third example, etc.' as it makes the paragraph monotonous. Use transitions to get from one thought to another.
-Your pages are still not correctly linked. This should be linked to 'AND THEN THERE WHERE NONE', not 'here'. Almost everyone has done this wrong.
Lastly, have you followed the directions for each assignments carefully?

11/31/09 Chapter 1:
How does a mystery novel differ from a narrative?
A mystery novel is a novel that is usually fiction about events such as murders, crimes, and so on. These stories have suspenseful events and often leave you hanging at the end of the chapters. A narrative novel normally just tells the story from the viewpoint of the writer. Narratives also don't use suspenseful writing very often.
How might the title be a clue to the story?
The title makes me think that there may have been a few people or items that were once there, but then suddenly disappeared. It also may imply that there were people who have been killed off.
Great answers, William!
